I recently purchased two Alien Bees B800's, and I was curious to see what, if anything, others with studio like lighting use for moving their lighting from set to set, or home to set.

I know the Buff site sells smaller bags for each B800 head, but I was wondering if there were any rollers or bags out there that could be recommended to help condense down the amount of stuff I have to move.

Lighting stands were meant to be carried in standbagger.com bags. Just suggesting...

I am confused...do you want something simply for transporting your B800's, or do you want something for all the other stuff (stands, softboxes, etc.), or BOTH?

Something for the 800's. I purchased a light stand bag from Buff for the stands and umbrellas. I'd prefer one bag or tote for the flash heads, rather than separate bags for each individual one

For the strobes - look up "Tenba Car Case CC17 for Two Small Monolights, Black.
MFR: 634-402". There are also many similar items from other manufacturers - some costing less.

Someone gave me a thirtyone bag which I guess females love, but mine doesn't look girly so I use it because it's huge. Carries my flashlights, B1600, extension cord, triggers and receivers, LED hotshoe light I use for details, and my 36'48 softbox I have when it's packed up.

I use a smaller thirtyonebag for my 2 flashstands and lightstand for my strobe.

Used or 2nd hand Military fiber glass carrying cases.

They come in all different sizes and shapes, they are cheap and durable.
I use this one to store flash units and foldable soft boxes at home.
They make these boxes in all different sizes

The problem with padded bags versus cases is that bags offer less protection the more weight they carry. When you carry two or more monolights, the value of the gear inside typical justifies greater protection. Vanguard makes a removeable insert that can serve both purposes when combined with the matching hard case.

Pelican cases are among the best for transporting strobes, just as cameras and lenses. They are expensive if you want to pack reflectors and cords all in the same big case. A less costly option is Hardigg transport cases from military surplus stores and cut your own foam to fit. If you want the Pelican look, check out Monoprice.com for hard cases. They don't have a lifetime guarantee like Pelican, only one year, but otherwise seem close in quality and function.
