Maybe I should start selling my Canon glass too. Quite frankly, I havent used my 85mm f1.8 in months; the 135mm is also almost totaly unused.

I'd offer a great Jupiter 85/2.0 for that unused Canon lens of yours ... and two nice CZJ Sonnars (MRC & 'Zebra') for the other

Tell you what, I'll even throw in a great Tair-3 300/4.5 and some adapters, if you're interested...

The MTO 1100 f/11 ?? dear lord it's huge. Wanted to buy one, tested it (very good performer) but damn hard to focus and very heavy ( after 5 minutes my hands where terribly sore). Another big downside would be that with that beer barrel attached to the body you can't use the camera grip ( only a few mm between the lens and the grip. It's so heavy it busted my M42 adapter (good scare - thought it broke the pin of my camera mount). Needed to file the adapter's pin lock afterwards.

The 2.8 Zeiss is a nice lens that gives a good pop to shots when used well. I hardly use mine as I have 3 others in similar range that are faster but I will use it today for the POTN World Photo Day.

Did u guys notice that although the Jupiter is very sharp it lack a lot of contrast ? I still consider it the king-of-bokeh in my lens kit. Love it

I received my Pentacon 135mm f/2.8 and Super Takumar 135mm f/3.5 this morning! The Takumar is tiny and beautifully built, and I can't stop admiring the aperture blades in the Pentacon. Can't test them yet though, as my adaptor is on it's way from Hong Kong.

Thinking about getting the Jupiter 9, but I have heard so many mixed opinions on it. I imagine I need to find a good copy.

The J-9 is a great lens. I haven't read of any consistent issues with it. I bought my J new. It's a real pocket hand grenade in terms of build. It's a favourite of mine but it's just not a length I ever use. I hold on to it only in case I ever need to take a portrait   The J and the Helios are worth an eBay gamble.

What sort of prices can I expect to pay for a new Jupiter 9? And where would I buy one?

Cheers.

Costs 56.28 delivered assuming no VAT/DUTY on import from here:

You can order adapters at the same time if you need them. Takes a while to arrive. i think mine took around 3-4 weeks but comes wrapped with real Russian newspaper and in a funny old cardboard box.

What would be the advantages of buying a new Jupiter-9?

Just curious ...
are you intrigued by the better Russian (or maybe Ukrainian?) workmanship nowadays compared to some years ago?
Or is it that the Russian guarantee ensures you can sleep well at night?

Like Condyk said, the eBay gamble might be worth it. I paid 35 EUR shipped for my used copy ... it's a nice lens, but I really doubt that a new one could be much better. And if I don't like it, I can sell it off again for that price...

Best regards,
Andy

That must be the preset version with 12 blades that you can make open and close smoothly and that form an almost perfect circular aperture. Think about what you've got to pay for that these days!

I got a kick out of that too! Ahh, nothing like the smell of fresh heavy Russian grease... The smell was strongest with my Industar 61 L/Z :)
