Hey all,

I recently acquired a Sony A7R, and am truly blown away by the performance of the new Sony platform. It really has changed the way I work and has made taking photos all that more enjoyable. Its no longer a "chore" but more of an experience.

Anyway, I'm starting to do more and more wedding work and simply love using the Sony A7R more than my 6D. I reserve my 6D only for low light situations where I would need AF. My question is, anyone use an A7S in low light situations at weddings? Im curious how it handles and really may be the tipping point for me to move to all Sony. I have heard nothing but great things about the A7S' low light capabilites, but AF is the last push for me.

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Basically the a7S will focus in low light as quickly and accurately as your a7R does in good light. It's not going to be as fast as the 6D (I used to own one as well, and the a7R in fact), but it will be more accurate and allow you to focus in even less light. My a7S rarely ever fails to focus, but depending on the contrast of what I'm shooting it can take a moment to focus, definitely not as snappy as a DSLR.

Do the Sony flashes have the AF assist system like the Canon flashes? Would that help at all?

I doubt it would help much, not sure if it does or not (not sure what you're referring to), but if it would than I would think it would with your a7R as well.

I personally find the a7S to be plenty antiquate at focusing in any light, but I also only own one AF lens and MF everything else... so I'm probably not the best person to ask about AF ;)
