Spider ID please

Hey Macro POTNers,

Found this spider on my bed this morning, photo taken from my phone and not great but if anyone can tell what it might be, be greatly appreciated. Size approx 8mm long body

Guess it's hard to tell from the photo ... I was worried it might be a baby white tail, no?

It certainly has the general shape of a whitetail, but the photo has no detail showing any white tip or striping, and in the photo the legs appear to have white segments where they connect to the body, whereas the whitetails do not appear to have that, based on my googling of this species.

I have no knowledge of Australian spiders but the wikipedia page for the white-tailed spider suggests that the belief that these spiders cause necrosis following a bite might not be based on fact.

Looks a bit like a white tail but hard to tell. Seems a little short - perhaps they lengthen as they grow?

I was bitten by one on the hand and it's not pleasant. Took 2-3 weeks for the pain to subside and swelling to go down. Best you shake out your washing before bringing it in

Thanks all ... realise it is tricky, only had my phone on me and didn't keep the spider around long enough to shoot with my macro lens.
