I am at a loss to figure this out.

According to Adobe's website, they offer a "Photography" pricing tier which includes Photoshop CC + Lightroom CC for 9.99 USD per month.

They also offer a "Single App" purchase of 19.99 USD per month from which you select Photoshop (Lightroom not listed) or any other Adobe offering.

As far as I can tell based on description, the "Single App" also includes a website, some fonts and 20G of storage, none of which would mean anything to me.

The only other difference - and this might be the big one - is that the more expensive option offers the "Latest Version" of Photoshop.

So the question is this: Does anyone know what is the difference between the 9.99 option and the 19.99 option other than the website and storage? Specifically, is the 9.99 option something other than the "Latest Version" of Photoshop?

Also, do you know if that 9.99 covers two installations and the previous PS license did?

I currently have the photography plan and it allows me to install it on a primary and one backup, as long as they aren't running at the same time. I've attached an image on the plan overview.

I use the $10 per month plan and it suites me just fine (as long as the price doesn't go up !!!! - are you paying attention Adobe???). Both Photoshop and Lightroom stay updated to the latest version, and you're able to install and use both on 2 computers (some have said that you can't run them simultaneously on both computers but I've found that you can).

OK, sounds good - being that I was buying about every other upgrade (CS, CS3, CS5) at the cost of about $200.00 every other year, this is pretty close to a wash.

One last question - does it need an active internet connection to perform photo editing functions?

I generally keep my photography machine off the internet with the exception of product registration, etc.

Now I understand that I would not get streaming updates if I were not connected, but would I still be able to use the product?

You'll only need to connect to the internet once a month for the CC app to verify that your license is still valid.

You don't really get 'streaming' updates, just a notification that an update is available and then you allow Adobe to download/install the update at your convenience.

Hmmm - Big Difference compared to what I thought. Good to know.

The key difference is that you get "trickle" updates rather than one massive version update. By that I mean they the old system meant that Lightroom 4 was released with a set of features and then the only updates were to fix bugs and add camera compatibility. They didn't add new features until they released the next full version (LR5) and you had to pay for that. Now with LR CC they can add new features (like Dehaze) at any time so you should get more frequent but smaller updates.
