I'm new to Nikon and I'm not sure if I just need to change a setting or it just doesn't do it, but can you use AF in live view or is it only manual? It dont mind manually focusing, but just curious if it will auto focus.

I'm pretty sure you just initiate focus in the same way as you would through the view finder (e.g. AF-ON or half shutter press)

It doesn't work for me, the square turns green but it doesn't change focus, if I switch out of live view it will focus again. No clue what the issue is.

Just tried it with my D750 in LV mode with Sigma 50mm f/1.4 Art lens, and it lights up green on focus point as the autofocus engages.

Strange I use live view frequently enough and the camera focuses just fine. (I use Back Button Focusing, but I don't think it matters in this case.) Which focusing mode do you use?

Gear is one thing photos are another story.

I'm using af-s but I tried the other too, not matter what it won't focus. I'm also using the sigma 35 art. I am also using back button focus. So it's good to hear that neither of those are the reason. Hmm

Well I just figured it out, it's my sigma that is the problem. I tried my Nikon 85 and it focused just fine.

Very strange. My 35 Art focusses in Live view on my D4. I wonder what it could be
