X-T1: Portraits with Vivitar S1 135 f2.3 & Canon FD 80-200 F4 L

Shot some portraits for a client last week in Georgetown DC. I had brought along my recent acquisition, a Vivitar Series 1 135 f2.3 lens to try it out along with Fuji 56, 35, 18-55 and Canon FD 80-200 F4L. I ended up using all the lenses for different types of looks and the client loved them all. Fuji and Canon FD were easy, however the Vivitar has a strong personality, and flares easily, but when used right, its super sharp (relatively speaking) and produces beautiful images. Used the Focus Assist button on X-T1 on regular screen and was able to get about 70-80% keepers with the 2 MF lenses.

Here are some with the Vivitar and Canon FD. Most of these images were shot wide open or half stop less than wide open.

Nice set. Really impressed with that older glass.

Thanks Dave. The Vivitar is not only great for portraits (albeit a bit long on APS-C) but a joy to hold. Heavy but comfortable to hold, and built like a tank.

What adapter are you using for these older lenses?

I use the Fotasy adapters from Rainbow imaging purchased via Amazon - So far, all have been excellent.
