That makes no sense.
Cheetah/Godox lights work just fine for paying gigs. There are a lot of us that use them often to earn money.
They are as reliable as any other hybrid strobe system.

In the end, a light is a light. Its what a photographer does with it that makes the picture.

I'm not familiar with Cheetah, but there seem to be a lot of happy customers weighing in. Could someone give me the quick version of where these fit into the continuum of studio lighting (price/performance wise)? Not being a professional photographer, but rather someone who does this as a hobby/art, I can't justify Profoto or Elinchrom lighting, but am very happy with my Paul C. Buff Einstein. I bought just the one Einstein for strobist type stuff, but now I'm looking at 2nd and 3rd lights for portraiture. I was planning to just get another Einstein, but now I'm curious where Cheetah options fall, as I don't have that much invested yet in any one system.

Heya,

Doesn't matter. Lights are lights if they're working and doing what you need them to do. Don't fuss over sticking to one specific "brand." You'll note that over years, brands tend to change. Sometimes they're reliable. Sometimes they're not.

For lights, the most important things tend to be reliability and temperature consistency, relative to the price of the unit.

From there, it's all about power output, features, etc.

Don't limit yourself to just Cheetah. They're not making them after all as you pointed out. They're good lights and gear.

Very best,
