Digital Camera Speed Challenge #387 - Home, Sweet Home. Open to your interpretation of what this represents.

RESULTS!

Thanks, everyone for the great variety of entries this week - I had expected most to be traditional shots of cozy homes, families round the table sort of thing. A few comments on each - and your own comments on my comments are welcomed!

Voaky999 - clearly the most beautiful shot of the lot, although it wouldn't immediately illustrate "home" to most, I think.

Benitoite - yours really intrigued me. Is it a sepia-toned photo that you took, or is it a photo of a photo in a frame - or maybe with a "frame" border added by you? Is a photo of someone else's photo a legit entry?

Jason C - a stark reminder that for many these days in urban areas one's "home, sweet home" is also a fortress.

EnglishBob - Someone's pride and joy once, sad to see.

aubrey67 - no matter how humble, it's home to someone, judging by the washing on the line.

And the winners are (chosen with some difficulty):

First place: aubrey67
Second: Jason C
Third: Benitoite

Take it away, Aubrey!

It's a photo of a film negative I inherited, with perspective distortion correction, illuminated field corrections. The original scene is 1940's suburban Sacramento taken by my grandfather of his grandparents. The digital image was made on the T3i, and probably a kodak brownie type camera captured the original scene. The sepia tone originated with the color inversion of the negative, and desaturated further to emulate a print. Of course the frame is from the forum software. Thanks kindly for considering it among the all-digital entries.

Normally one would be chided for not cloning out garbage bags, but these lend some size and angle perspective!

And adds to the impression of an occupied home, although maybe not as "sweet" as some.;-)a

Thanks for the info, Benitoite - a very clever job! I have sometimes wondered if taking a digital photo of a screenshot of a scan of one of my own many old Kodachrome slides would be acceptable to enter in POTN challenges and competitions, but have so far decided against it (the resulting image probably wouldn't be good quality anyway!)

Jason, Aubrey67 does not seem to have noticed he won, and he hasn't even read the PM I sent reminding him that he should set a new challenge right away. As the runner-up would you be willing to set a new challenge ASAP? It would be a pity to let it fade away again now we are getting a fair number of entries?

I will start a new challenge later on tonight, need to think on a topic for a bit.
