The premise of the survey isn't incorrect, sales of digital cameras, especially DSLR's, is shrinking, why bother buying a dedicated camera when the phone in your pocket does a good enough job, and gives you instant connectivity to social media? Which is one of the questions in the survey...............

EOS R 5D III, 40D, 16-35L 35 ART 50 ART 100L macro, 24-70 L Mk2, 135L 200L 70-200L f4 IS
Hype chimping - The act of looking at your screen after every shot, then wildly behaving like it's the best picture in the world, to try and impress other photographers around you.

The premise of the survey is the cameras are declining. See #1 post.

The survey does make it more clear, that it's digital cameras. SO it really is dependent on what constitutes a digital camera. I would think that anything that can capture an image digitally would be a digital camera whether it's packaged with other technology or not. Therefore, phones, pads, most new laptops all have cameras and would apply.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

The questions in the survey differentiate phone cameras as being separate from 'cameras', but he could have worded it a lot better that's for certain. However, we are camera nerds and details are important to us, to the general public, maybe saying 'camera' clearly doesn't include a phone camera.

If I asked you to count all the toothpicks in a town, would you go looking for swiss army knives? I don't have "a digital camera" in my pocket currently, my digital cameras are in my gear bag and on a shelf, but I do have my cellphone in my pocket at the moment.

The vast majority of people I've talked to regarding such an issue would describe "Digital camera" as a dedicated camera device aimed mainly at taking photos, and distinct from webcams, security cameras, camcorders, GoPro style action cameras, etc.

I just asked my kids and their friends if they had a camera. All answered, yes, it's on my phone. If you look at many of the phone manufacturer adds, the camera is always prominently mentioned. But you do point out the problem clearly. The vast majority of your people might think one thing while the vast majority of mine might think something else. The questionnaire is too open to interpretation. It would be so easy to add a qualifier such as dedicated digital still camera or DSLR digital camera, or excluding phone cameras, video cameras, GoPro cameras or whatever.
