Did my first candid session for a friend of mine and his daughter. I was nervous going into it but that quickly faded and I settled into a groove. I've never done any kind of portraits before but have followed a lot of the threads on here for ideas. Let me know what you think...

number 4 is absolutely perfect.

i think you did a great job and absolutely nailed the first one. 2-3 could use a wider crop, IMO. 5 is really good too.

I think you did a very nice job and not just because it was your first time shooting portraits. You should shoot them more often. I'm sure "Daddy" was happy with the images.


Canon 7D, 5D, 35L, 50 f/1.4, 85 f/1.8, 135L, 200L, 10-22, 17-55, 70-300, 100-400L, 500D, 580EX(2).
Sigma 150 macro, 1.4X, 2X, Quantaray 2X, Kenko closeup tubes, Yongnuo YN685(3), Yongnuo YN-622C-TX. Lots of studio stuff.

Thanks to everyone for the kind words. I'm currently working on a plan to hopefully turn this into something profitable. It's not my first choice but the bills don't pay themselves! Lol!

#6 would be even better if you shot it in portrait mode and caught the whole reflection of them in the pond....it looks like a really clean reflection! Like the others I like #4 the best!
