I want to use a Canon 420EX flash on an Olympus OM-D E-M5 Mark II. My main system has been Canon for years but I want to use the Oly for foreign travel and want to use my Canon flash/Better Beamer for birding.
I don't see why it wouldn't work - even if I have to control the flash level manually, but any help from the camera would be good.
Thanks for any input
Andy

Sorry, the pin assignments are not standardized, with exception of the larger center contact for flash fire, and the ground on the external edge of the flash foot.

Insulate all the pins except for those two flash-sync pins, and you have a full power manual flash.

Thanks - I expected as much :(

The flash can be manually dialled down and (manual) camera settings follow. Only really for use for perched birds when it's getting dark. I can practise with my old GH2 and old 550 in the meantime - that fired the flash, so I assume it will behave like any other non Canon camera with the Canon flash:D
