OK,

I am not worried about "composition" as much as the "technical" part of shooting and post process. Here are a couple shots I took in Raw. I then saved it as a JPEG and cropped and border in PS Elements.

Rawshooters Essentials
Photoshop Elements 2.0

I'd love some feedback!

It's hard to judge with all our monitors showing the colours differently. Different RAW converters give different results too. When you compare the image on your computer monitor, does the guitar look to have similar colours to the original? The screws on the guitar look blurred but maybe they were just a little OOF.

The color looks pretty close to me (as close as I can tell have color blind issues), I agree it is a little soft. I tried to sharpen it.

I'm not sure I like the lack of sharpness I'm getting in most of my shots.

Very good pictures. The exposures and color balance on #1 look very good. The monochrome looks very good.
I think you have exactly the right white point and black point settings, and the picture has good range of tones and contrast.

I have little to no interest in that subject material, but it looks like your technical details are excellent.

Thanks Robert!

That makes me feel good coming from you!

Maybe you can help with another matter, I can't seem to get my layers to mask in PS Elements 2.0?

Sorry, I can't help you with Elements - never had a copy of that. Have used PS7.0, 8.0 (PSCS) and 9.0 (PSCS2) but never have dealt with Elements.

Perhaps someone who is familiar with Elements 2.0 will step up to the plate.

Thanks Robert,

I did learn Elements 2.0 does not offer a mask, I found under the search a plug-in that adds this feature. I'm not sure it is working like it should, I'm not sure I'm bright enough to figure it out though!

I'm no expert on masks (or even layers, for that matter), but I think I have learned this much, and it reflects my electronics and programming background.

Masks often use just two colors - black (which has a numeric value of zero) and white (which has a numeric value of 255 [In the 8 bit per channel systems]).

Multiplying something by zero (painting the mask black) nullifies or cancels it out.
Multiplying something by 255 (painting it white) turns it on full, or enables it.

Thank goodness they keep this stuff simple.

It reminds me of the ship's captain who had everything he needed to know written on a small piece of paper, which he consulted briefly before each voyage. When he died, the First Mate went through his personal effects to find out what secrets the Captain had written on that piece of paper. When he finally found it, all it said was:
Left is Port.
Right is Starboard.
