Multiple exposure for eclipse

I don't have much experience with multiple exposures and none at all using it on a lunar eclipse. I thought I'd try it tonight just for something different. Since the eclipse will start with a much brighter moon tapering to dim, does anyone know whether it would be best to use the "average" setting or the "additive" setting? I will be using a 5D III. Thanks

Additive.
You want each individual exposure to be as good as possible.
Bracket and pick the best. Shoot every 10 minutes or so....

Thanks for the response. I've got a lot to learn on this topic. It can make some interesting images.
