Eastern Box turtles can live over 100 years and grow to over 7" in length. This guy was one of the biggest I have seen and had to be older than I am...

Nice close up portrait. Seems you can't age them by the rings on the shell which represent periods of abundance or scarcity of food.

Thank you Linda and Alex. I would have liked a head shot from the front, but I would have had to move him, and I didn't want to harass him.

I took the cell-phone shot for an instagram post, and thought it turned out pretty well :D
