Here are a few from the Yucatan. I drove down from my home in Texas a couple of months ago.
I was amazed at the birds and how easy they were to photograph.

American pygmy kingfisher (Chloroceryle aenea)
7D, 500mm, F/4, ISO 800
Rio Lagartos, Mexico

Yellow-crowned night heron (Nyctanassa violate)
500mm, Mark IV, 1/1600
Las Coloradas, Mexico

Roseate spoonbill (Platalea ajaja)
500mm, F/7.1
These guys were everywhere.

Los flamencos mayores (Phoenicopterus)
500mm, 1/4000
These guys were there by the thousands.

Brown pelican (Pelecanus occidentals)
7D, 1/3200, 500mm
Too many to count here. Easy to take.

Grey-necked wood rail (Aramides cajaneus)
Mark IV, 420mm
Rio Lagartos, Mexico
Edge of the mangrove trees.

This part of Mexico is the best water bird photographing area I have ever been too. Rio Lagartos is a small fishing village and about 25-30 KM from town there is a salt flat teaming with birds.
I drove down alone and had no problems finding the birds.

Live between San Antonio, Texas and Thailand. I spend about 9 months a year in Thailand and 3 in Texas.

Thanks guys, I was a little worried about driving down there. Had one little hassle at a toll booth. But, I made it threw no sweat. Now that I know the ropes. I am planing on heading back in a few months. GREAT people and a wonderful place to photograph birds.
Very highly recommended by me.

Nice shots. I was in Quintana Roo and Yucatan, mostly Quintana Roo. I went for the ruins and had a great time.

Thanks for the comments.
CheleA, I went to Palenque first. Stayed a week at the ruins there. Actually the birding was great. But, they wanted $250 dollars to bring in a DSLR and big lens? So, no bird pics from there... LOL
Took my point and shoot in and got some nice pics of the ruins... Beautiful place

I saw a similar sign at Uxmal ruins. I only had a Canon 70-200F4 and nobody said anything. No big deal, I didn't see any birds -- big or small. I was lucky enough to go to Tulum, Coba, Chitchen Itza, and Uxmal. Uxmal was my favorite by far. And to top it off, Uxmal was practically empty and we had stormy weather which made for nice and interesting skies!

Thanks for sharing these Gary, outstanding work as always. That Wood Rail looks like a cross between our Purple Gallinule and Clapper Rail, mostly Clapper but hints of a Gallinule.

With fall finally here I'm hoping to catch a few Kingfishers myself.
