I had the honor to shoot some portraits of my family last week while I was home on vacation, and this was hands down my favorite. My grandpa didn't usually get to hang out with us due to my grandma's controlling ways. She passed away about a year ago, and so now he is getting to come and hang out with us when we do stuff. There aren't many pictures of him because he was never around, but I'm hoping to reverse that trend every time I'm home.

Very nice shot, and good for you. I am sure that he appreciates your attention to him as well. The elderly have so much to offer and are so often forgotten.

So very true. My grandpa was a railroad engineer for 57 years, from steam to diesel. I so regret not recording, in some way, the stories he had.

Great capture. I envy those who were able to grow up with their grandparents in their lives. I have 3 grandkids of my own so far and I can't imagine not being involved in their lives.

I quite like the photo. Lots of character :)

My grandpa is in his last days, although mentally he has been gone for several years... Wish I had recorded his stories as well. That opportunity has passed.
