Dropped A6000 from height of cargo pants pocket one week after purchase.
Made marks on one corner.
Was relieved that it worked the rest of the day.
That night it gave a can't recognize the lens error message and stopped working.
Went through the sony website and 800 number and sent it to Precision Camera.
The Precision Camera lady called to say the techs said it had impact damage and the warranty was voided.
She said no techs were available to talk to me.
She took my CC number.
$210 to fix.

Wow... I wonder if that's bad luck or they're just fragile?

I only ask because I've dropped my EOS M a handful of times... it's got scars to show from it, but everything on it functions perfectly. There was another guy in the EOS M thread back when they had just started the firesale for them who dropped his off his motorcycle going 60mph... the body got pretty torn up, but he said the thing still functioned perfectly!

I'm hoping this was just your bad luck since I'm considering selling my EOS M for the a6000

On the bright side, at least they could fix it and you don't have to spend $500 on a replacement ;)

Laughed when I read "dropped off his motorcycle going 60mph." Thanks.
As I see it there are three options. The cam is fragile. I am very unlucky. Or they take any excuse to void the warranty.
I have no reason to say the repair people are dishonest. I do wish they had someone to tell me how it could work for a day then stop.
So I'm going with the cam is fragile and going to treat it like a baby from now on.

Yeah it's a ~$600 camera, it's not going to have the build quality of an pro DSLR.

I use my A6000 for shots that are too dangerous to risk my D800, just think of it as a semi-disposable camera ;-)a
