For those of you who were slightly dissapointed with the 30D, well here is the 40D. 4.5cm LCD i think and 102 Focusing points. :)). sorry too much time on my hands.

With a screen that size you, I mean Canon, should stick in a TV tuner :)
I don't quite understand the multi focus point fetish. I use a grand total of 1 focus points and it is quite sufficient.

Nice ideas there- seems to have fixed up the CF door flex problem too. I'm still disaapointed though -- its basically just an upgrade to the 30D. Viewfinder looks the same ol same old. sigh.

..and the Canon badge and the 40D badge on the front are both backlit at night by a soft white led.

I have a 300D and was hoping Canon would release a 10 meg to compete against Nikon's new 200D ($1,700, 10 meg). I have not gone that far down the Canon path in terms of cameras and lenses and jut may switch to Nikon b/c of the 200D. If I thought Canon would be releasing a 10 meg for $1,700 - $2,000 next year, I might wait. Any predictions on a 10 meg 40D?

You are quite right. I can still take pictures with my 300D that compare against higher MP cameras. Save your money, buy glass.

the 5d was canon's attack, and a good one at that. 35mm style sensor, fast shooting, and just as large and clunky as the 200.

if you want nice looking pics, just get the 30D and 50mm 1.4, that's all you really need (total cost of camera+lens = cost of 200 body)

instead of getting new 40D, ide rather that canon have firmware update for 350D that adds in ISO of 3200 and a few more things.

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.
