A superb set of pics George.

The dragon is a Migrant hawker - male. The short antihumeral stripes are the best way to distinguish from the Southern - theirs are broad and very noticeable. A superb in-flight shot too.

Top hover is a Eupeodes sp.

Thanks for the comments folks and thanks Linda for the ID, the males do look similar. Migrant hawker is another one to tick off my list then! LOL

What was the lens used for those shots, especially the dragonfly?

Superb set George - love the colours, sharp details and compositions. Would also like to know what lens was used on the Migrant Hawker shot.

Thanks both.

Sigma 105mm macro with 30mm ext tube for hovers. Sigma 150-500mm with 30mm ext tube for hawker shot, manual focus though as the sigma 'hunts' in AF mode with an ext tube attached.
