The other day I was out and noticed there is a slight amount of side to side or up and down play of the focus ring against the lens barrel. So if you were holding your camera with your thumb and forefinger at the 3 and 9 o'clock position in the focus ring and were to slightly move your hand left to right then right to left you could feel a little movement of the ring. I would say 1/4mm. Can someone verify? Its not at all a lot, but I never noticed it. _______________

Yep. That's what it does. Must be the way i grabbed it to make me realize it. I'm glad my junk 40mm is OK. _______________
