Does anyone know of a decent flash bracket that I can used with my 6D with BG-E13 battery grip, that would allow me to easily keep my 600ex-rt above the camera regardless of orientation? I found ones that can accommodate the camera without the grip, but this is not useful to me as I use the portrait-orientation controls often.

Also, do flash brackets exist that can mount the camera via Arca-Swiss plate rather than 1/4-20 screw? Ideally, I'd like to not have to remove that plate from the battery grip, as the flash bracket is something I'll be using less often than my tripod.

Newton rotating flash brackets (below) are the smallest, lightest rotating flash brackets on the market. It's one of the best-designed pieces of photo gear I own. It quickly and easily swivels from portrait- to landscape-orientation. It's kind of expensive, but totally worth it in my opinion. If you go with the Newton, don't forget to also order the Newton dedicated cord holder (required). The Stroboframe VH2000 used to be an okay alternative (but, just "okay"), but apparently it's been discontinued (I did find one on Amazon).

This is my main, flash-fired event rig: a Nikon D3s/SB-800 with a Newton FR2 rotating bracket. A custom-shortened Nikon SC-17 remote TTL cable completes the set-up (Newton will custom-wire your SC-17/SC-29 TTL cable for a nominal fee). Note that the SC-29's AF-assist head won't fit when using this particular Newton bracket, so the SC-17 is actually preferred in this application.

That looks interesting. I'm going to try to find a video or set of photos showing this in action. From seeing what it looks like, I can't picture how easily it swivels, nor how much the ring portion could potentially get in the way of using a manual-focus lens. Am I also correct in thinking that this RRS product is the $180 ring plus the $240 sliding bracket, for a $420 overall solution? If so, I think this brand is a bit out of my budget. I'd like to keep my bracket to around the $250 range if possible.

Thanks for including the pictures of this! Certainly looks like a contender.

Exclusively for on-location fashion shoots with a 6D + BG-E13 + 85mm f/1.2L II + 600ex-rt. More than anything else, I don't want to be limited to having the flash off to my left when shooting in portrait orientation, as it is when mounted directly in the hot shoe. What I've been doing a lot lately, in lieu of a good bracket solution, is putting the 600ex on a light stand (pointed up and wearing a Flashbender2) and firing it as a slave using a 90ex in the hot shoe as the trigger. This works well indoors, but I really need the bracket for outdoor shooting.

The $180.00 package, as far as I can tell, comes with one bracket for a flash.

What's in the Box?

- B87-HOOP Flash hoop
- One (1) - B87-SFM SNAP QR™ flash mount
- One (1) - FA-QR1 SNAP QR™ Standard Adapter
- Flat head screw, stainless steel, 1/4"-20 x 1/2"
- 5/32" Hex key

P.S. this is what I have;
http://www.tripodhead.com …sh-bracket-other-apps.cfm (external link)

Two problems;
One it appears to be the kind of flip floppy bracket you do not want.

Two, if you need to get all the parts, cost.

In my case, all I needed to get was the one part, the "M7 Flash flipper" ($89.00) to add to my existing Wimberley telephoto flash rig that we use with a long lens (500mm etc.) on a Gimbal head like the Wimberley head.

All Wimberly gear is very well made though, up there with the RRS stuff, but I've always wanted the RRS set up, as it's solid one piece design appeals vs. the "flip floppy" styles of most others.

The plus of the Wimberley is it is solid gear, adjustable (will fit with a grip) modular, and expandable, and does in fact work with any Arca plate (like the RRS)

There is also Custom Brackets. The speedlite stays on top and the camera rotates. I use mine with a gripped body.
