So after running for 3 years with a cruddy Manfrotto tripod and rubbish head i thought i would upgrade a little...
I have bought myself a Manfrotto 055cxpro3 and a 3LT Airhed Mohawk ball head.

As far as i know this is a new ballhead to the market and my initial feelings are that i am impressed impressed impressed.
The ball head feels very light but VERY well built, Great feeling when adjusting the knobs and locking the ball down. it seems very easy to lock the head in place without having to twist the knob too much (this all sounds far too rude!)
I will update with some feedback tomorrow when i have tested it with my 1DMk3 and 50-500 'Bigma'
From the manufacturers site:
"The AirHed Mohawk is lightweight yet powerful ball head for enthusiasts. Cast from aircraft grade ADC12 Alloy, and engineered to withstand top-down loads of 160kg, the Mohawk punches well above it's 236g weight. With integrated detachable circular-Clamp, levelling bubble, and pan base, and the added functionality of the Peak Design Capture Compatible release plate, the Mohawk is fantastic ball head on a low budget."
