Cool!

Too bad that's the other side of the continent from Florida... alas.

This was interesting from NASA's website concerning what's ok in this facility:

Vehicles entering NASA/JPL property are subject to inspection. Visitors cannot bring these items into NASA/JPL: weapons, explosives, incendiary devices, dangerous instruments, alcohol, illegal drugs, pets, all types of skates including skateboards, Segways and bicycles. No bags, backpacks or ice chests are allowed, except small purses and diaper bags. Drones are not allowed to fly over NASA/JPL under any circumstances.

Kind of sucks you can't take a bag/backpack. Gotta wear it loud & proud, no extra lenses for this one (if you were thinking about it?). But it makes sense why this is prohibited...

And what's worse, no drones nor ice chests!? ;)

Very best,

Interesting. Never paid attention to that section.
From my personal experience based on many years of participation, including last year, camera bag is not a prohibited item and following simple inspection at gate, I had no problem to have my bag with me last year.

Don't forget every building's door, including active labs and test rooms are open to public on that day and no wonder there are restrictions. By no means restrictions are unusual or irrational. Personnel are all there to help, at best, at the site.

There is a lot of walking involved so anybody who plans to come to the occasion better come light with sun blocking cap and hiking shoes. Food, snake and beverage are readily available to be purchased at the site, so you can have lunch there and everything else is free. There would be a lot of goodies and freebies so definitely come light to take home some interesting stuff too, beside the pictures.
