I've been a Canon owner since the 70's..... and for the first time in my life....I can honestly say.... I'm standing here..... "shaking my head" at the answers I got today on the phone from CPS service.
1. Morning shoot at 10:30am
2. Boxed camera up at 11:00 am for my yearly cleaning. (Gold member since they started CPS)
3. Dropped off at UPS at 12:00.
Get an email....(bent CF pins) $200 to fix. STOP!! What did you say?? BENT PINS. So I'm game....I'LL PLAY ALONG. AFTER 45 minutes of being transferred......only to talk to not only a supervisor but a tech that was being fed information from a computer screen....... "quote".....you have a bad CF card and it "must of" bent the pin..... don't use it. I ask "what pin is it" and just how would it of been "bent". Oh it's one up in the corner.... (that's all the information you can give me......really??).
NOW here's the punch line...... OK....well I only have 10 different CF cards....and gee wiz....I'm standing here with my 5D MK II and my 1D MK IV that you just "cleaned"...and I wonder why they're not bent.
Soooo how do you explain "bent pins" in a camera that uses the same cards as the rest of my fleet. You know, the ones you JUST CLEANED a month ago?
Dead Silence..... and then......well....our computer we hook the body up to said it has one...... REALLY??
For the first time in my life..... I'm starting to doubt CANON SERVICE, JAMESTOWN, NJ.
btw.....If I have this posted in the wrong location on our site....I'm sorry..... I'll be more than glad to re-post.
