ATM, as my CF cards are 16GB 60 MB/s and the SD cards are 32GB 95 MB/s and I hate CF cards! ( horrible pins, no card reader in the Laptop etc. )
I record ful, JPEG to the CF ( smaller files ) and full RAW to the SD cards. As 16GB wont do a whole long shoot, I thought of getting a 64 GB card for the CF card slot and switching i.e.
Record full RAW to the CF and JPEG to the SD card.

If the SD card runs out of soace and says card full, and I replace it with another SD card ( preformatted on the camera )
Will the image numbers still run on in sequence. I.e the same image has the same number on both cards?
Or will the newly inserted card start at image 1 ? :(

Any advice appreciated as I wont have time to check this out before a big shoot!

Depends on how you have it set up. You have a choice of "Continuous", "Auto Reset", or "Manual". Continuous, I believe is the default an the numbering will continue. This is, I assume, what you want.

Thanks, continuous is what I want.
I ordered it at 5.39 pm on the 7th. UPS say they will deliver by end of business hours tomorrow the 9th. Not bad all the way from Hong Kong. :)
So no idea, just ordered a tempered glass screen and a new Sandisk Extreme 64GB CF card 120 MB/s ..... Sure that will be fast enough for studio work. Says it writes at 86 MB/s.

Do hope so, I loved my 7D, once I got a good copy, and I really love this 5D3. Only good things to say about it. Very reliable, jolly solid.

I am very disappointed Canon have cut down on the robust build quality in the 5DS R. Seems ludicrous, when you want that antivibration mass on a 50 MPS sensor. But then thats life.... My merc engine used to have 2 beautifully polished rocker covers on the V8. Hell now half of the top of the engine looks like ABS!
But thats Life !
Throw away society! ( course its good for the ecology - er the CEOs share options more likely ! )
