I own a Leica M-P, but when doing portraits I go right to my Canon 5D MKIII.

Is anyone using the Leica for portraits in studio? Links or images?

What are your thoughts on using the Leica in studio?

All the views and no reply, oh I get it, you only take pics of your Leica's. Pathetic part of the forum.

I was curious to hear responses to this too. I think you'll do better posing the question in a forum with greater dedication to Leica or browsing tags on flickr.

I do environmental portraits with my MM when I have an annual report or something like that needs to be B&W.

Here's a couple

I have used mine in the studio, but for copying artwork, and i cant share the pics.
I rarely shoot people in the studio.

for day to day work (mainly environmental portraits) i use the work issued 1DX, I make use of a lot of flash, and the ST-E3 doesn't play nicely with Non-Canon cameras, otherwise i would use the leica a lot more.
I do take a lot of photos of my kids (in addition to everything else i use it for) with the M240 and a pair of 580EX bounced off the ceiling, not really portraits as such though.

Lovely attitude !
have you seen the Leica Lovers Anonymous thread ? lots of great pics, very few of cameras.

this subsection has very few users, theres maybe 5-10 of us who regularly post here - its not as heavily trafficked as other parts of the forum (a Leica specific forum, like LUF would have probably given you lots of responses, very quickly)

Don't think the Leica's natural habitat is in the studio, its for the street. If I ever do anything in my "studio" I would use my 5D2.

Thanks for the replies everyone! For portraits I do use my Canon's but wanted to see if any potential with a Leica for other than street shots.

Every tool has its use but I think the main advantages of the Leica rangefinder (seeing outside of the frame, discreet, quiet etc) are lost in the studio and a lot of its disadvantages become more prevalent (low flash syc, slow speed compared to modern DSLR etc)

Different horses for different courses :)
