Fisheye Needed

I have a full frame Canon and am looking for a fisheye, I already have a 17-40 f4 but I need something a bit wider around 12mm, Canon is out as theirs is $3500 so I am looking for real life suggestions on what lens to look at and why?

The 8-15 fisheye is not $3500. Are you maybe talking about the 11-24? That is $3500 but is not a fisheye.

So, are you looking for wide and the fisheye effect? Or something wide and rectilinear in the 12mm range?

Allegedly (Talley wrote a post on this) the Rokinon 12mm FE is very good - but of course MF. The other best option is the sigma 15mm, supposedly better than the old canon 15mm.

If you are actually looking for rectilinear, the the Rokinon 14mm is you best bet for less than $1000's.

The Canon EF 8-15mm f/4L Fisheye is currently $ 1479 in Canada (yes, those are Canadian dollars) plus tax. Adencamera has it at an even cheaper price if you pick it up in store. I'm thinking of grabbing one myself; every time I hold off on lenses they only end up going up in price.

Well you have a few options. Sigma 15mm fisheye, Rokinon 8mm 3.5 HD (although shows vignetting), Rokinon 12mm 2.8, Canon 8-15L.

The canon and sigma will autofocus. Right now as far as IQ the Rokinon 12mm 2.8 and the Canon 8-15L are up there in performance and IMHO the Rokinon edges out the Canon with corner sharpness and CA control.

If your just looking for a wider lens then the Rokinon 14mm is a nice option and sigma has the 12-24mm option as well and obviously you said the 11-24 is out of budget.

I've got the Sigma 15mm f/2.8. It's a true fisheye on a full-frame body and I've been quite pleased with its sharpness and build quality. Bought it used for about $400. Fisheyes are fun occasionally, but can be easily overused or poorly used, IMO.

Another endorsement for the Sigma 15mm F2.8 EX DG, for about $400 used it's a great lens, unless you want a true fisheye or need to go wider.

Unfortunately that lens is not full frame coverage like the OP wants, but it's so good I carry an extra body just to use it.

Covers APS-H but it won't do full frame. I've tried on my A7, totally unusable unless I cropped it later or I tossed the camera into the 1.5 crop mode.

if you have a 1.4TC you can add it to the back, and it'll act as a 11.2mm fisheye...
