I wonder if Canon will make a 50 with IS, such as a 50 f/2 IS? That would be awesome. It could replace the 50 1.8II.

Oct 11, 2015 23:59 | #4 Well, a 50mm IS would fit the ranks of the 24mm f/2.8 and 35mm f/2 IS. Canon did issue a patent a while back for a 58mm lens (http://www.canonrumors.com/patent-canon-ef-58mm-f1-4/) Canon 5d, 60d, 17-40mm L, 30mm Art, 50mm, 85mm

Doubt the 50mm would be the first... Canon 5D mk IV

Oct 12, 2015 11:16 | #8 Stingy? Let me mention the 24 f2.8 IS, 28mm IS and 35 f2 IS. The 50mm would fall nicely into that line of prime lenses, including the price bracket. There is also the 16-35 f4 IS. Canon 5d, 60d, 17-40mm L, 30mm Art, 50mm, 85mm

The EE 24 f1.4, the upcoming EF 35 F1.4, the EF 24-70 f2.8 all point towards no IS for the cutting edge lenses. Who knows, maybe the 5D MkIV will have in-body IS... Gerry

Oct 13, 2015 12:17 | #10 Well, those are L lenses in a whole other price bracket. I dont expect an update for the 50mm f1.2, but the much cheaper 50mm f1.4. Canon 5d, 60d, 17-40mm L, 30mm Art, 50mm, 85mm
