I acquired the D Lite 2 kit a while ago and am loving it. The problem is in the small space im in the flashes are to much. I would like to diffuse my fill light further. I have been told to use a grid but cannot find one for the softboxes. Does anyone have suggestions

Look at the Fotodiox Ez-Pro line. Great value, easy to deploy.

You can't add a grid (easily) to a Portalite, they're very simple and small softboxes but even if you could add a grid that just helps prevent spill which doesn't seem to be what you're after.

There's plenty of cheap generic softboxes available that'll have an inner diffuser, be larger and include a grid. Go for one of those.

First off, what do you mean by "to much"? If you mean "too bright" that has nothing to do with diffusion. If you want to cut down on the power of the light AND also diffuse the light you can use one of the Elinchrom deflectors such as the translucent deflector in your sofbox. There are no grids or inner difusion panels available for the Portalite softboxes, but the deflectors work fine. A grid would not help with diffusion anyway, actually it would increase contrast. If you want to further decrease and diffuse the fill light (not the key light) then replace the D-Lite with a simple white reflector board instead. Do you have your camera set-up correctly, i.e lowest ISO (100) setting and a higher aperture setting (f11). I'm assuming that you are doing portait photography? Here's something else to try for portrait photography in a very small studio; switch off the strobe and just use the modeling lights.

Yes I do mean too bright. Ill try a reflector board. Yes my ISO is 100 and my aperture is set at I believe f22, yes its very high. Ill also have to try using just the modeling lights. Thanks

To find the grid for Portalite is not difficult, no more difficult than for other Elinchrom softboxes....

Elinchrom only makes grids for the Rotalux soft boxes. They don't make grids for the Portalites soft boxes. If you have a lead on a third party grid for Portalites I'd be interested in knowing who they are, as I'd like to get one.

You can use an Elinchrom deflector to reduce output. They're included with some Elinchrom softtboxes, but you can also buy them separately: http://www.bhphotovideo.com …ranslucent_Deflector.html (external link)

I make the grids to order for any softboxes.
Grid for Portalite 66x66 cm, construction with spring reinforcing frame and special mounting "skirt", cell size 5x5x5 cm, scattering angle is 43° will cost $78,00. Grid will weigh about 225 g., the delivery of such weight to any country will be cost $8.00.
Payment is made after receipt and verification of the grid. I trust people and I hope that faith is not to lose.
