am always on the lookout for one of those cute fox models. This is not one of those - poor fox appeared to have mange anfd showed strange behavior. Seen walking down the refuge road, not afraid of cars, etc. Would have reported it, but there was no one around to report to. This angle gave me the best shot. He was very thin and had lost a lot of fur on legs and rump.

Too bad! Still, that's a pretty nice shot of him.

One of my fav's as well, Mange is a mite of which the female burrows into the skin and lays her eggs, which causes the gooey mess that makes the fur cake up and fall out. Its alway fatal if not treated. they simply cant see or smell to hunt and eat so they starve to death. Its simple to treat and the drugs ( Ivermectin ) can be had easily. If your interested I can full you in even more

I read about the treatment, but don't know if it would be allowed, as I am not affiliated with the refuge. Doubt I will see it again, plus the refuge is now in the throes of the annual deer cull, which brings in hordes of hunters. I think it is only a refuge for Canada Geese.l Sad.
