Just walked in the door with my 5d, having upgraded from a 10d. I tested a model at the store and I even tested the one that I bought, everything but the shutter release. I saved that for a solid, respectable img_00001. It was a risk but I have high hopes for the camera and I wished it good luck by giving it something nice to look at right out of the womb.

I got a little hasty and snapped the apartment building across from me. It is a tad underexposed but not a bad result. The image shown and the full jpg (available on my pbase site) are untouched, right out of the camera. Nothing special for sure.

As for upgrading from a 10d, here are my first impressions:
1) Almost exactly the same feel as the 10d (feels lighter). The bg-e4 grip is definitely nicer and bigger. It is so much more a part of the camera than the BG-ED.

2) Focus is way better in my short experience. Part of that is how well you can see in that big viewfinder. All my lenses feel faster and more accurate.

3) Shutter sound is solid. I almost drooled when I first heard it. I don't think its quieter than the 10d but it sounds better to my ears. Bigger but more subdued.

4) 17mm is SO wide its almost psychadelic. I am going to love shooting that wide.

5) I take way better pictures now, I am 3 inches taller, and I am WAY more handsome.

19mm, iso400, f/8, 1/1000th (17-40 f/4L)

I continue to be amazed by the details available in shots from the 5d. Can you find the naked lady standing in the window? :D Just kidding (I think)! This camera is calling me more and more.

A bunch of stuff.

That's going to be my next (planned) buy. And IMG_0001 is going to be with that Sigma 15-30 at 15!

I am going to try to get some shots of my kindergarten today with the 50mm 1.4. The problem is that it is their second day and they are 3 years old. I'll post some results if I can.

My wife agreed to let me have a 5D just before Christmas. She wants the XT. At the moment we are watching the price - it is slowly coming down here in OZ - when it reaches a point where I can't stand not having it any longer, I am getting one, too.

I really liked the detail in the full size link, IJ, it makes me want to reach for the on-line purchase form...

Congratulations.
