Time for some standardisation and I don't mean the looks.

Within the Ranger series, it's the S head that's promoted. So this is Supersync / ODS from Phottix with the Long burn / Long tail thing after an early trigger.

Same mold as the phottix laso. Not sure if that's a good or bad thing. Kinda half-baked because it's not compatible with exrt or the phottix system despite Elinchrom announcing collaboration with phottix and sekonic.

Basically, Elinchrom is catching up with 2013 in finally having an LCD screen on its remote, but the implementation and mold is an after thought.

Also, I don't see the point of their new Quadra. Godox's Ad360 kinda kills it for price and functionality.

The ELB 400? I know. Im guessing only these newer packs will be comparable with their new high speed sync trigger? That the discounted quadra rx hybrids won't be compatable?

Yeah, the ELB. No TTL and Elinchrom's mount (which you need to get an adapter from quadra/ELB400 to Elinchrom for on-top-of) is pretty terrible compared to Profoto and Bowens S-Type. I think past Elinchrom lights are all compatible, but I'm not sure to what degree (if certain features are not present with older lights or triggers or not).

Check the review here.

http://www.elinchrom.com/reviews/SkyportPlusHS.html (external link)

The keywords :
- game changer
- vastly better than current hypersync
- ODS
- can overpower the sun from 20-feet away in full daylight, all with only 424 Ws
- by far the best high shutter speed flash sync technology on the market - and not just by a little
- no banding or gradation

I am curious is it really game changer or the reviewer did not know about phottix odin ODS or Yong nuo SS feature to shift the trigger time, or he never heard of Rovelight, etc. ... or he was drunk :)

ODS finally comes to the Elinchrom and before that they were "outtriggered" by other makers of trigger sets that produced sets that worked on Elinchom flashes with long burns.

PocketWizard made in cooperation with Elinchrom the Power ST4: http://www.pocketwizard.com …mitter_receiver/powerst4/ (external link)

So nothing really new under the sun but is good Elinchrom made their own triggers to support this with Canon looks.

Elinchrom's new HS head for the Quadra could be a real gift to current Quadra owners, and gets us into the slow-burn game with (potentially) significantly higher shutter speeds than possible with PocketWizard TT1/TT5 triggers when used with the current Quadra 'S' heads. The fact that Elinchrom also lists their ECO ringflash with a "green dot" is also very exciting, since my ECO ringlight manages problem-free HyperSync only up to about 1/640th, using a TT1/TT5 on a Nikon D3s (see below). Very excited to try the new HS head/transmitter out!

I totally forgot about the eco ring light. That could be really cool if HS works well. I could never get the Ranger RX with the S head the HS with the Pocket Wizardgear.

Did you had a look at this page and selected your camera to how it performs with the S head?

I tried the PW HS with my 5DII about three years ago. I couldn't find that much documentation. I gave up after about six hours of experimenting the timing settings, along wigh updating the PW firmware. I'm hopping the new transmitter is seamless.

They're nowhere to be found at the PhotoPlus show, apparently. Odd.
