Note to self: Make sure you photograph a newborn session when the baby is tired and sleepy

Foster was the most wiggly baby I've ever seen. I tired to do some naked baby stuff but all he wanted to do is stretch and wiggle. He is my cousin's baby so I took these as a gift. I did what I could.

Shot with 5dm2 24-70 and a flash+umbrella

Yea they wanted to do naked baby shots but he was stretching all over the place. I was like ok we need to wrap him up for this to work at all.

I think they are great. He's very engaged - how old was he when you took them? I'm doing a couple of newborn shoots in the next 2-4 weeks and was wondering about flash. Did it disturb him at all? I'd prefer to do natural light but it's getting dark so early now I may not have the luxury.

I think he was like 4 or 5 days old. I was going there house for the shoot so I knew there would be limitations in terms of natural lighting. I could have moved stuff all around but I just went with a down and dirty with a flash + umbrella combo and putting my fluffy blanket over a couch. Simple

I didn't "disturb" him I actually was trying to get him to be still and sleep which is waaay easier.

Check out my less rushed and wiggly work at
