Because this is the same guy who PMs people all the time wanting to buy items. Then says his wife wont let him, or some other excuse. I should post all the screenshots of the many times he's pulled this BS on me.

Really dude?

Twice I've contacted you. Once on an old polaroid that a coworker might of wanted and all I said was that I was interested and if it was still available but you said someone had already talked about taking it and another from a $30 1940s light meter that I just wanted to want to have sitting on my shelf and the wife in fact did find out and expressed our interests in getting office furniture which we did end up getting and she saved me from yet another "needless" purchase.

So it's pretty obvious you are upset because your selling lackluster items that are hard to sell but thats just how it goes. I have a LNIB sigma 15mm that I been trying to sell for 9 months now but you don't hear me crying about it.

Fact: I buy alot of gear... Fact: Not from you... Other mindless fact: People contact me all the time and never come through... it is what it is. At least I don't contact you to lowball.

I see at least 3 warning signs: the limited run of 100, the $500 deposit, and the explicit statement that they won't offer refunds for pre-orders.

It's not for me, but you should do it. ;-)a

Ya that really soaked in last night. It'd be a collectors thing for sure but who knows maybe Sigma will indeed release a 135 1.8 OS art... that'll be the lens I want. more than likely a fraction of the price too

+1000, total scam.

limited run is a joke, mitakon put out a ton of 50mm F0.95.

At 1K, I would entertain the idea, but 3K is a cruel joke. I'de much rather adapt a slower zeiss 135 F1.8 than an unknown mitakon F1.4 anyday.

The mitakon 50 had problems where the lens would literally fall apart.

EDIT: FYI, for 3K, your just about there to buy the 200mm F1.8.........

the weight didn't scare me at all...

the IQ as I suspected is not to my standard and you only buy this lens to shoot a 1.4 otherwise you buy the Canon 135...

pass.

Looking at the size of that lens mounted up, you could just opt for an old FD 300 2.8L and have a lens about the same size with better IQ for far less money. Since the Mitakon is manual focus anyway. . . . .

Ya but 2.8 is not 1.4 for shutter demanding situations.... although this would of been a 100% portrait lens....

...with patient subjects lol

In low light, shutter speed demanding situations a 6lb lens isn't exactly ideal either. A 300 2.8 with an extension tube for close focus will give you some crazy results. ;)

the IQ actually looks fine, maybe not the best samples?

not super sharp, but that's pretty good considering the razor thin DOF. Should sharpen up nicely if you wanted.... however, the price is ridiculous. At that price, you can swap to sony with the 135 f1.8, body and adapter included....

$3000 and they can't even put an electronically controlled aperture in there for the times you might want to stop it down! The thing is I don't see how this would be a viable cinema lens either, with such a thin DoF wide open. Seems like you might as well just buy a slower "cinema" version from one of the other chinese offerings. Likely to be a bit more reasonably priced.

Ok but if canon made this in a white body L lens built like the 200 f2 with a 5 stop stabilizer and prices it at 6000 I bet they would sell similar to the 200 f2 does now.
