I bought this lens new a few months ago. I've used it just a few times and it looks and functions as new.
Here's the facts. It is critically sharp at f2.5 and above. It's sharp in the center even to f1.8. The AF is extremely accurate. But like any 1.8 lens DOF is narrow wide open so you have to keep it exactly where you focused it.
This lens is superior to the previous EF 50mm f1.8 lenses (both versions) and the Canon 50mm f1.4 USM. It has way more accurate is AF than the 50mm f1.4 USM. It rivaled the Sigma 50mm f1.4 I was using before it (not the Art).
It has only two flaws, not specific to this particular specimen. 1. The AF is not snappy like USM. It doesn't hunt, but it moves into focus more deliberately and exactly, ½ a second rather than instant. 2. This is not the king of backlight. In a strongly backlit situation is will have flare and lose contrast. But hey, it's a low cost lens.

I bought the new Tamron 45mm f1.8 VC, and I don't do video so I don't need this anymore. If you're curious about this lens, here's a chance to get a great optic for the price of a nice dinner out.
$100 and I'll pay shipping and paypal fees
