Preferably they have some ink in them still, at least enough to keep the sponge saturated. I am an avid cartridge refiller, and the fastest way to an ink accident is to reuse dried cartridges. Thanks for the heads up. I am aware of the issues associated with dried ink, but it's a good idea to spread the information far and wide. I had an old, cheap ink jet printer that I tried to use old, half used cartridges in a few years ago and destroyed the print head on it.
