I am looking to obtain a full set of empty/used CLI-42 ink cartridges for a Canon Pro-100 printer. If you have any cartridges that you could part with, please let me know.

Can't help you if you're looking for freebies, but Precision Colors has them for sale:

Unfortunately, the precision colors refurbished cartridges do not come with chips, which makes them not very useful to me. They also sell aftermarket cartridges with chips, but they have some different issues which makes them less than optimal for my applications.

I am not asking for handouts; I am willing to pass a few dollars on to anyone who can send me some used Canon cartridges.

Last time I checked my ink levels were pretty low (some at the warning level, some half or more full) and I have a few large, heavy coverage prints I'm getting ready to crank out. Not sure when they would all be empty though.

Yes. The yellow will need to be a flushed or aftermarket cartridge, but I want the chip from a Canon cartridge to retain low ink warnings after refilling.

You guys looking for empty cartridges DO realize that they probably need to come to you with the orange plastic cover in place, to prevent the felt ink transfer surface from hardening in the air and becoming unusable.
Does refilling softened a hardened felt???

The OP is probably interested in the chips on the carts to use with refillable ink systems from a third party. The cart itself is probably not as useful as the chip, which helps with monitoring ink levels and resetting the level on refill.

At least that is how it works with Epson carts.

This is exactly why I was looking for empty cartridges, in 2015...
