It's the time of year again when all the various competitions start to reveal their winners.
The National History Musuem's Wildlife Photographer of the Year (which, as a Brit, is IMO is the big one.

Won by Don Gutoski, a Canadian, with his photo of a red fox killing a snow fox. However my favourite is probably the underwater category winner, Michael AW's Bryde’s whale bursting through a mass of sardines.
GDT European Nature Photographer of the Year (GDT are a German nature photographer's society. Open to anyone living in Europe, )

Anyone paying attention to WPOTY will recognise the winner: Richard Peter won with a photograph of an urban fox's silhouette. It's not often an award winner won't actually feature any animals within the frame but I reckon it's a worthy winner for a pretty perfect execution of an interesting idea.
GDT also recently awarded the Fritz Polking Prize. That's for a body of work, either a project or a portfolio of individual images. This year it went to Bruno D' Amicis for his project on the situation facing the fennic fox.
