Had a watermark on it but just didn't seem so "Zen" then... (not sensor dirt)

Niiiiiiice bump. Nice photo. And I was just wondering where to post this image. The water is stained like tea, from the specific vegetation in the area.

I like this, and I know it's debatable, but I like it more with the water cropped out so it is essentially a B&W.

Thanks, I always love to get comments. On this photo I killed all colors except blue and yellow.

It would be a different picture. Not necessarily better, not necessarily worse. This is a kind of thing I am trying to learn to understand, and I think the key is in looking at the picture as a story.

In a novel or movie the protagonist is always faced with problems, often in serious trouble. By the end of the story these problems have been resolved and the situation more or less stabilized. How good the story is depends on how intriguing are the problems and how interesting the resolution.

In music, too, the composer starts by throwing this and that at you and then, by the last note, resolves it all into a coherent equivalent of a story.

To me a photograph or painting is also a story, but a story without the time element. Everything is there from the moment you lay your eyes on it. No surprise endings, no gradual dishing out of information.

But still it is a story, with a development of the various visual elements into a meaningful image. And how good or bad the picture is depends on how intriguing is the problem posed by those visual elements and how interesting is the way in which the artist resolves it.

So it’s not the what, but the how. For example, when I look at Itsallart’s abstract higher up on this page, I think that she has created a masterpiece. So little to look at, yet you can look at it for a long time and not get bored.
