I love the cinematic look/feel that I see to a lot of photos online. I don't want to go through all the hassle of applying this effect to each of my images. Can someone guide me through a quick and easy way to create and action? Or perhaps suggest a filter or action that can be downloaded to save time? Thanks...

Aah...actions to use with what software.
IMHO, it's much better to treat each image individually after culling the best ones.

I'm colorblind. That's the issue and why I'd just like to find some presets. I don't use LR (although it's included in my CC subscription), so ideally, photoshop.

PS: I have a colorchecker passport which I now use religiously, to get me correct colors to begin with.

So, could you post a link to a pic that you like (POTN rules prevent posting actual photos that are not "owned" by us) and then posting a photo of yours that you'd like edited?

Oh god... LOL.

Here, I googled it for you. :P

"Color blindness, or color vision deficiency, is the inability or decreased ability to see color, or perceive color differences, under normal lighting conditions. Color blindness affects a significant percentage of the population. There is no actual blindness but there is a deficiency of color vision."

Here is an interesting web utility that allows the user to upload an image of their choosing and simulate various types of color blindness.

http://www.color-blindness.com …olor-blindness-simulator/ (external link)

and this:

http://colororacle.org (external link)

Having never been color blind I have no idea if it is accurate, but it is interesting nonetheless.

Here is a screen simulation of three types of color blindness, using a shot of a color checker and the Color Oracle application to which I linked, above.

Guys - I don't mean to be rude, but please - let's stay on topic. I've lived with being colorblind for 34 years. I know all about it. There are even color blind glasses out there (send me a PM if you want to know more). I am simply wanting to know the quickest and easiest way to get that "cinematic feel" to images via a color grading process. If there are presets out there that can be downloaded, great! I just want to be able to achieve this look to my images.

Thanks!

Cinematic, filmic "looks" are offered in, more or less, three pre-packaged flavors.

1) Presets for Lightroom/ACR from the likes of VSCO (Visual Supply Co.)
2) LUTs (Look Up Tables) from various providers - usually the LUTs are applicable across most software that supports the use of LUTs.
3) Dedicated applications that can build emulations or emulate film through their own, internal presets. These would include plug-ins and apps like Nik ColorEfex, DXO FilmPack, Red Giant Looks, etc.

If you want the typical collection of film looks for free, you can use Raw Therapee as a raw converter and use their Film Simulation setting, with the collection of film look HALDs (a kind of LUT) that are offered - all for free! See attached screen shot using the Fuji Velvia 50 simulation.

Pick the one that fits your workflow best.

Here is the Fuji Velvia 50 simulation applied to the color checker image above. You may also want to visit Stu Maschwitz's blog:

http://prolost.com (external link)

for tips on color grading for filmic, cinematic looks and his LR presets, etc. if that's the route you take.

Ryan, I normally just use a combination of gradient map in Ps with an exposure offset. Personally I keep it simple, selecting one color for shadows and one for highlights, set to color blend mode and then adjust opacity to taste.

I know someone who swears he can not see ( or at least discern) any color. And I know full color blindness is definitely possible through other sources.

I am not a preset kind of guy, as I am very comfortable using curves, levels and other tools to get the look I want. Had you been interested in describing your perception of color I might have suggested a few tricks that would help you choose a preset, tweak a preset, or even do some "artistic" color correction on your own.

Seems you have a single thought mindset. Good luck finding a preset. Maybe that Google thing you used to find a definition of color blindness could help you.

Have you looked at this thread? It's pretty long, so you might start at the end and work backwards.
