I know its not a favorite of many here, but i'm so sick of Facebook, i would just get rid of my business page altogether if i didn't keep getting "some" work from it. If i advertise, i get people who arent even in my area see it, in fact those who see the page are from all over the country, not sure how that's even remotely considered targeting an audience.

now it seems that when i post don't get any views. I posted a few pics from a wedding i did the other day and i got only 8 views in the first day, even though my page has a lot more likes. It wasn't until i shared the page to my personal page, I got a worthwhile set of eyes on it. That's bulls*** Why do I even have a business page if no one is going to see my posts? I wish i could just use my personal page, but i'd rather not intermix the two.

feel free to pile on your dislikes, i'll sympathize.

I LOVE Facebook for business!

For every $1 I spend on advertising I make around a $20 return in sales.

Here is just one example of how the right content targeted at the right audience can yield meaningful results

That's because not everyone who likes your page will automatically have posts from it show up in their feed. Facebook did away with this a while back, forcing people to "boost" posts / pay for advertising. Also, you can do some very targeted advertising on FB. Even down to your zip code if you want to geo-target.

Facebook ads are great. You just have to know what you are doing.
You need to understand your target audience.

1- DON'T just click "boost post" or page.... Use the Ads Manager to select your audience and customize an ad. You can select a specific area within miles of your location if you want. Or go state by state.

2- Pick a "different" photo for your ad. Something that sticks out on the news feed. People respond to something that is out of the ordinary. That's why memoriesoftomorrow does so well with his reflection photos. It's unique and makes him stand out. I'm sure he also targets properly as well.

There's entire articles on how to use facebook ads efficiently as well as just how to advertise.

Also, facebook's algorithm for how it shows posts to people who like your business page is different than how it shows to your personal friends. Facebook made a big change to the business page algorithm a year or so ago when they changed how the news feed is viewed. They are constantly changing it too! You basically have to pay for ppl to see anything from your business page OR post something that is so awesome that people will like and share it for free.

OR you have to give people a reason to visit your page to see what you have been posting. Cultivate a proactive following as opposed to a reactive one.

^^^ That technique completely removes any algorithm from the equation.

thats the problem. I post stuff and it never makes it into my followers feeds, if they dont see it, how can they like and share it thus driving others to my page?

They still have to see it in the first place.

You can always bribe them by "share, like, & comment this post and win a free session" Facebook has rules against this but everyone does it and I have yet to see them enforce it.

No they don't. You can get people to actively visit your page without having first seen stuff on the page. I've been doing it for years. Like I said... if people have a reason to actively seek out the page they are being proactive and the Facebook algorithm becomes completely irrelevant.

Nooooooo.... I'm not saying you HAVE to advertise to get them to go to your page or even see something directly on your page. I'm saying, they have to see something to begin with in order to be proactive.

You can get it for free, but someone they know needs to first show it to them by either liking, sharing, commenting, etc. They aren't just going to magically see your post or page if they aren't connected to your page in anyway. You can't just start a page with 0 likes and expect it to take off. You have to establish that initial connection first. There are many ways to establish that initial connection. Facebook ads, business cards, them seeing you somewhere then seeking you out on fb, a client mentions you, etc, etc. Once you get that initial connection, you just need to keep them hooked with interesting content.

I agree that you don't HAVE to advertise, that's why I suggested that he post something that catches their attention more. It will help the ads as well as organic stats.

BTW, I doubt many of your followers are just randomly visiting your page to see what you posted. They are seeing what you post in their news feeds, and it catches their eye, so they click it, like it, share it.

EXACTLY. You just have to get people to be interactive with your posts. Any like, share, tag, comment, will keep it at the top of the news feed. Maybe ask a question when you post it. Start a discussion in your post. Tag whoever you can.

No, you don't have to get them see something to be proactive and visit the page. I've been using the strategy I use for several years. People seek out the page to view the contents they know I will be posting because they have a compelling reason to do so.

You're thinking about purely online promotion of online content... what if people are given a reason offline to seek out online content... you have to start thinking we'll outside the box.

You are speaking to generally. This is a conversation to have in person. I have a feeling you and I are on the same page but you don't get what I am saying. I'm out.

Good luck OP.
