picked up this lens last time I stopped at a film shop in San Fransisco , they had this in their Leica Section.
It's a USSR Industar 55mm 2.8 in Leica screwmount(also called L mount, LTM and M39) THIS IS NOT THE SAME AS M42, This is LEICA M39 not pentax M42, will not work on DSLRs only Mirrorless)
The lens design was a Zeiss/Contax one the Soviets stole after WWII then cloned.
I got the Adapter that works on Sony FE and E mount mirrorless bodies(has a little play but not noticeable unless you man handle the lens)
The thing about this lens is that it's not supposed to be usable until F/5.6-11 but the copy I got is awesome wide open, that's all I ever shot it at. All the samples below are wide open shots, jpegs not even raws.
The lens was imported from Russia where there's no such thing as pampered cameras, it was used and well loved.
Has wear marks from use, but everything works. Light scratches on the front element but they don't affect performance, look at the samples. Optics have no fungus, aperture is smooth and does not stick. It has some dicoloration but no visible oil.
The lens is entirely made of aluminum no plastic junk, it's super light and compact. Weighs next to nothing and is about 25-50% of the size of an SLR or regular 50mm mirror-less lens.
Has a weird quirk in which the aperture numbers don't line up, reason for this is the Russians(actually Ukrainians) used the same ring as their 2.0 lens to save on cost. So wide open is a little bit past the 2.8 numbers, but ALL the aperture settings work and are select-able. Rangefinder users count the clicks, they don't look at the numbers.
Reason for selling: need funds, was hoping my Sigma 24mm would sell before I had to put this one up.
Comes with the Leica L39 adapter that will let you use any Leica LTM or Minolta,Zeiss,Voitghlander lens in Leica tread Mount.
Comes with Rear cap, no front cap(it spent all it's life in my Pelican case since I got it and when not in use)
$50 for the lens $15 for shipping/insurance/paypal fees, the $15 does not go to me it goes to USPS and Paypal.
Shipped priority and within 24 hours of payment.
Samples, All wide open (again this is lens that it not supposed to be anywhere this good wide open, very very good copy)
