Well, after months of;

Keep 24-105 or upgrade to 24-70 II??
Really want to chop the 17-40 in for the 15-35??
Keep 6D or upgrade to 5DIII?
Wait to see if 5DIII upgrade appears?
Is there even going to be an upgrade?? Is it the 5Ds??
Wait, the Nikon D810 looks cool??
What about mirrorless?? Those Sony's look interesting?
So does the Fuji Xtrans??
Keep my 200L or chop it for a 135L, better for the kids??

You know what, the 5D is a great camera, those are great lenses, the kids are young so I spend most of my spare time around them photographing them anyway, not landscape or macro stuff like I want to, and I owe it to the kids to take great pics of them when they're cute, and I can sell a ton of stuff to help pay for it, and the auto focus is bugging me on the 6D anyway.....

So, 5DIII, 24-70L II and a 135mm ordered, that was an expensive evening :) Photography is nightmare hobby for making decisions!!!

yes, that's a personal choice, and that's cool if that's what you think is best.

my own perspective though: life isn't about having fun, then having kids and dumping your life, then passing your time after they leave the nest. it's all a balance.

my own dad loved taking pictures--not necessarily "photography" but he took pics of everything to do with me and my bro with his Canon A-1 + 50 1.4. zillions of pictures. how often do i look at them?--like pretty much never, except for those rare occasions i get a new gf and she wants to see baby pics. but otherwise, nope.

are they valuable?--hell yes. but....... as valuable as say if he took landscapes instead?--pretty sure i'd prefer him to mix it up.

i say that documenting your own life is just as important as your kids', even "while cute." i wish i had more pics of my dad doing his thing. and especially my mom, who died already. have few pictures of them, but lots of me and my bro.

Erm, I do other stuff too, taking pictures of my kids isn't my entire life :)

hey dude.the biggest question is "US".not just the main usefully.so i though u can still useing these lens.I saw u had the 100L 16-35 and so on.Beside,6D is good for shot video.
Im still useing pentax KR.it is so cheap.and 50mm lens, and sigma 17-70.so U had those lens, they all so great.u can make better.Long exposure, pentax shows really good.
photography is a tec.not show "my camera and lens are best".Useing your only have, and make beauty
U said,u want to upgrade your 6d to 5D mark 3.your can take one and charge your have.If you really want, and go on.

Well, a month in with my new 5D III 24-70 f2.8L and 135L, am I pleased I chopped everything in and 'upgraded'?? Hell yes :)

I'm capturing for more keepers than I was before due to the 6fps and much much better focus system, my keeper rate has rocketed, and the images are of a noticeably higher quality. It's not as good as taking pics of my kids in a darkened room, but hey, can't have everything. Quite frankly I'm now really annoyed at myself for not doing it earlier, the missed shots are haunting me a little bit as I now know I would have got 'em....
