Hi guys, a few questions about rear focus, and focus settings.

First, if I turn off auto focus from the shutter button and rear AF/ON button set to auto focus, will AF come back on automatically when my wife grabs the camera and uses it in full auto camera mode?

Second, I have been reading about when using the rear focus button, if I press and release, focus will lock on whatever was in the box, then I can move the camera and recompose without it refocusing. If I want continuous focus, I hold down the rear focus button and continuous focus is on?

The setting must always be in AI/Servo? The above does not work in single shot, nor AI mode?

Third, the above seems to be reversed in live view. The camera continuous focuses when button not pressed, but locks when you press and hold? Seems weird that they are backwards.

Or have I got it completely wrong?

Thank you
Michael

What I am looking at now:
I am going to start with the 24-70 2.8 glass. Some R body to pair it with.

If you set it to Greenbox, then yes.

Correct. exactly.

Yes and no. You can use single shot, but to get it to continue to track and re-focus with your thumb down, AI servo is required.

No idea how any of this behaves in live view. Sorry.
