So I was going for a bike ride, usually when i did this i brought my camera because theres a nice lake area with bike paths and you never know when you'll see something cool to shoot (no camera anymore now had to sell for financial reasons). So I was going through a neighborhood 1/2 mile from where I live to get to the path. theres a separate walking/riding entrance next to the gated entrance for cars. As soon as I go through and get on the street part theres a roundabout. Next thing I know a car didn't stop at the stop sign there and just went and blind sided me, bounced off the hood of the car and landed on my side/knee. 6hrs in the hospital a whole bunch of stitches and a small tear in the tendon in my knee. What a fun halloween, I'm sure if i had a camera in my bag it would of been broken to hell. They were pretty surprised when I walked in and I said "hey I think I need someone to look at this" while theres blood all down my leg that turned gray converses into red ones.

Wow, that sucks. Hope you'll heal well.

Gotta ride like you're invisible. Even then, you never know.

For a positive spin, sue the idiot and go buy yourself a new camera.

if anyone knows who i should talk to about this for advice that would be great.

not really sure what to do from here on other than I probably need to rest for a few days, and I should probably keep these shoes that one ended up turning from gray to red for evidence just incase. I'd post a picture since it's photography related but I'm sure no one wants to see that lol

i know. i just was kind of afraid at first because i was hurt and bleeding and needed medical attention asap. but i know where he lives and the kind of car and there was 1 witness. as soon as i'm ok to walk ( i can right now but its not very comfortable ) I will. I'm going to talk to a friend who had a similar bike accident about 2 yrs ago and I'll ask the lawyer he used about it and go from there. I know I should of done it immediately. but i was more worried about making sure i was ok and getting to the hospital that was about 2 1/2 miles away

The sooner you have the police investigate, the better, don't give the person that hit you time to fix the vehicle where there could be evidence. I wouldn't confront anyone in person with this, have the proper authorities do it.

i was on a bicycle. and I have all my hospital papers and physical evidence (stitches in my knee) of the outcome and everything else. as for any other kind of physical evidence I have a shoe that turned red from blood. I never talked to the guy as I couldn't communicate with him because he didn't speak english.

None of that establishes fault. You need to file a police report and let the police interview the driver and witness. This should have been done immediately before leaving the scene of the accident. Now your chances to be fully compensated for your medical bills, any permanent disability and pain & suffering have been significantly weakened.

You also need to get the driver's name and insurance info so you can submit all your medical bills to his insurance for payment. Or, if you've already submitted to your medical insurance you need to give them this information so they can get reimbursement.

Set aside, in a clean container, the outer clothing you were wearing in case it has even the smallest bits of car paint on it. Take pictures of your injuries before they heal.

I don't think that saving the clothing will help much at this point. If it were collected at the scene it might be useful, but at this point there is no chain of custody, so probably not forensically acceptable. The OP could have taken the clothing and rubbed it all over the car sometime after the accident. Besides, I doubt any investigator is going to spend that much time and effort on an accident that resulted in no fatalities.

Best bet will be the driver admitting fault or a very good witness. Unfortunately, most witnesses are useless.
