I just purchased a A7ii and a FE 55 1.8 This is my first Sony and FF camera. I would be grateful for any suggestions on the settings. Additionally, I would be grateful for advice on updating software for the camera and lens. If I read the Sony support pages correctly there are updates for both. Thanks in advance to those who respond.

Whats your history w/ dslr cameras? What type of shooting do you do? You could get a million suggestions but without knowing a little bit about what you like to shoot it's hard to give pointed advice.

I have a custom setup for sports, portraits and landscape. They're saved to the Memory recall slots. They get me close to where I want to be for each of the three instances and then I adjust based on the factors of my scene.

I've been shooting with a very old Nikon D60. Like you, I shoot, portraits, landscape, and sporting events for grandchildren. I want to start street and night photography.

I've been reading and playing. My sense is experience is the best teacher!

Thanks to all for your reply.
