Looking to find the best lens for my crop sensor cameras (7D MkII and T4i). As much as I would like to buy into a full frame camera it won't be for at least a year with 2 lens purchases I am looking to make this year. I see a few people like the Samyangs and I am looking at the 16mm F2.0, the 24mm F1.4, and the 14mm F2.8. Presently using a Tamron 10-24 F3.5. Any recommendations on these or other lenses for us crop sensor users would be appreciated. Thank you.

Constructive criticism is always welcome.

Heya,

For non-tracking, the Rok 16 F2 is sharp and fast.

But really, I'd suggest you look into a tracker for night sky. Then liberate yourself from focal length and aperture restrictions and use any glass you please. It also removes the full frame advantage frankly.

Very best,

Thank you for your reply. You have some fantastic work using some of the same cameras and in some of the same areas I've shot. Definitely a benchmark of what my pictures could look like if done right.

I never found any ultra wide to be wide on a crop sensor until I got their 8mm fisheye. I still love using that lens on my full frame(thankfully my A7 has a built in crop mode).

They go for $100 on the used market and you really should get one, no other 8mm comes even close to that price.

Great thing about those samyang/rokinon lenses is they're so cheap you can afford a couple.
