I was shooting a wedding on Saturday and during the bridal session went into my bag to grab my lovely Sigma 85. However, when I turned the camera back on the AF wouldn't respond and the top LCD on my 5D3 showed it flipping constantly between AF and MF. All the standard tricks (battery remove, etc.) didn't do anything and I had the same issue on my 6D body with the AF too so it's not some interaction between that body and lens. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have a squaretrade warranty so not terribly worried, just bummed to be without it for a bit.

It sounds like a intermittend faulty connection between the camera and lens. I'd guess the lens contacts or more likely the lens' flat cable. Did you try cleaning the lens and camera contacts?
