Designer spider ?

I spotted a running crab spider sitting on a vertical strut on my greenhouse. When I got near for a shot, it ran around to the underneath, between the strut and the glass. Although it made for a very awkward shot I'm glad it did because the shot below shows what I found.
I'm pretty certain the crab spider was not responsible for the amazing web structures but I wonder what was?

That one is rather interesting. Looks like the spider is at the art museum checking out the work.

Interesting, I wonder if they were created that way or something happened that made it like that (perhaps the spider had to fix it like that?)

Some evidence from another forum that they may be the crab spider's webs - used to make a bivouac- it was trying to bend the aluminium over ?
